The Rosicrucian Enlightenment traces its roots to the court of Frederick the
Elector of the Paletinate of Bohemia. In the schloss above modern Heidelberg
the Deutsches Apotheken-Museum maintains an extensive collection of materia
medica and alchemical apparatus. It is likely that Michael Maier and the
alchemical engraver Theodore de Bry were frequent visitors to this room.
